A quick note about RAID - Redundant Array of Inexpensive Drives
RAID 0 - Two or more drives interleaved for faster performance. NOT fault tolerant.
RAID 1 - Mirrored drives. One drive can fail and the array still works.
RAID 5 - Three or more interleaved drives with faster performance and parity. Can still operate with one drive failure.
RAID 6 - Four or more interleaved drives with faster performance and dual parity. Can still operate with two drive failures.
For more detail on RAID, see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RAID

Trivia - - - The speed of light and the speed of electricity are the same in free space.
At a transfer rate of 8Gbits/sec (PCIe v3) and a velocity factor of 0.66,
the data bits are only 1 inch apart as they travel along the connecting wire.
